Weekend update

This column by Salena Zito is supposed to be about Sarah Palin, but it also includes some words of wisdom for the Republican party. The choice facing establishment Republicans is whether to embrace conservatives or the moderate/liberal end of the spectrum.  The answer…

…based on what happened last Tuesday, is that they should move towards the conservatives,” [Villanova Prof. Lara] Brown says. “But – and this is a big but – they need to focus on fiscal issues such as taxing, spending, deficits and debt and the size of government, issues like freedom, liberty and small government and not the cultural conservative issues (abortion and gay marriage).”

No easy task, given the leftwing media tendency to emphasize social issues over fiscal issues when it comes to Republicans.  Media aside, is the Republican party smart enough to figure it out?  I have my doubts.

So Major Malik Nadal Hasan, the guy who reportedly refused to have his photo taken with female co-workers, was stopped by a lady cop.   Karma can be a bitch, baby.  (And I can’t find the link!)

Hasan’s actions at Fort Hood should send a message to our government.  From American Thinker:

Now is the time for our current government to become pro-active in thwarting terrorist plots. Being reactionary just won’t cut it anymore. The fact that the Obama Administration renamed the “War on Terror” to the “Overseas Contingency Plan” highlights just how off base they are on the threat our country now faces.

I agree, they don’t have a clue.  Or they have a clue, but don’t care enough about this country to do what needs to be done.    As long as the multicultural, p.c. pushing left controls government and media, they will continue to make excuses, blame others, or just flat-out ignore the danger.  Even worse, they will continue to push our military into their politically correct worldview at the expense of national security.

The W.H. approved, leftwing media take on events at Fort Hood:   it’s the Pentagon’s fault.  Overstretched military, ready to snap, blah, blah, blah.  Or how about:  Hasan was bullied by fellow soldiers (some claim, but I doubt it) and was the real victim here.  And of course there is the concern about a backlash against Muslims in the U.S. because we are such knuckle-dragging barbarians in this country.  Lies, lies, and more lies.

The real weapon used, according to Roger Simon:  political correctness .

After his lame response to the Fort Hood attack, Obama doubles down on his stupidity.  He’s off to Camp David for the weekend, and apparently can’t work in a trip to Fort Hood.  Wouldn’t be surprised if he finds the time, given Dubya and Laura did

On second thought, maybe it’s best that Obama stays away.  The Bush’s had the class to keep their visit media-free.   A Obama visit would be nothing but a photo-op.

Other news you won’t hear from the leftwing media:

ACORN office in New Orleans raided by LA AG.

Followed the Pelosicare farce last night, via internet only.  Not much to say about it.  It’ll be spun as a historic victory for Obama.   I studiously avoided TV news this weekend, so I don’t know what the usual talking heads were saying about it.  They can spin it how they want, but like the Cap & Trade bill that was rammed through the House, it means nothing.

Time to refocus on the Senate.
